Couplet

A pair of rhyming lines, usually of the same meter and length, forming a unit within or at the end of a poem.

Detailed Explanation

Couplets can stand alone or build longer poems. The rhymed heroic couplet, common in 17th- and 18th-century English verse, uses two iambic pentameter lines.
