Subscription, Cancellation & Refund Policy

Adult Confirmation

Starting a free trial or purchasing a subscription requires confirmation that you are 18 years of age or older. This is a self-declaration, not verified age. You do not need to complete this declaration to cancel an existing subscription or request billing assistance.

Free Trial

The five-day free trial requires no card and charges nothing. It expires automatically after five days and does not convert to a paid subscription. During the trial you receive 3 quick reviews, 1 detailed review, 2 Writing Studio uses, and 5 literary games, totaled across the entire trial. Trial users can view community content but cannot post or reply. No refund is needed because no charge is made. The trial remains available now, subject to its existing eligibility rules: an 18-or-older self-declaration, one trial per account, and no new trial while a membership or trial is already running.

Paid Plans

• Monthly: $14.99 USD per month.
• Annual: $159.99 USD per year (save $19.89 compared to twelve monthly payments).

Both plans include the full library, learning resources, Revision Desk within daily limits, private portfolios, Writing Studio, community participation, and games.

These are the currently offered prices. The recurring price agreed at your own checkout governs your subscription and its renewals unless a future change is validly applied as described under Price Changes; displaying a new price does not itself reprice an existing subscription.

An account holds one active subscription at a time. Checkout will not begin a second subscription while yours is still renewing, and the Membership page says so in place rather than charging you twice. If your subscription is canceled but still inside its paid period, you may subscribe again: a new subscription and a new charge begin when you ask for them, alongside the access you have already paid for.

Usage Allowances

Paid members receive 5 quick reviews, 2 detailed reviews, 5 Writing Studio uses, and 10 literary games per day. Allowances reset at midnight UTC and apply equally to monthly and annual members.

The Game Room’s game allowance is part of membership and is not billed separately: games are not sold individually, are not refundable in money, and the day’s games reset whether or not they were used. A round that fails to start costs nothing and a round left open is picked up again without using a second game. Cancelling ends future allowances only. It never removes games you have already played, your scores, your history, your badges or the writing you have saved.

Renewal

Your subscription renews automatically on a monthly or annual basis until you cancel. Monthly plans renew every month and annual plans renew every year, on the date of your original purchase, and each renewal is charged to the payment method held on the subscription. A subscription renews at its existing agreed rate unless a future change applies under Price Changes below. You can see when your plan next renews, or when a canceled plan’s access ends, on your dashboard and on the Membership page.

Price Changes

The recurring price agreed at checkout is your subscription’s renewal rate unless a future change is validly applied. Publishing a new price does not itself reprice an existing subscription. Before changing an affected subscriber’s renewal rate, we will email advance notice stating the new rate and its effective date, allow any notice period and consent required by applicable law, and explain how to cancel before it applies. A notified change may apply only to a renewal on or after that effective date, never retroactively to a paid period; earlier renewals remain at the existing agreed rate. New subscriptions use the price agreed at their own checkout.

Cancellation

You can cancel at any time from the Membership page. Open the “Cancel Subscription” card, then confirm in the dialog to turn off auto-renewal. Cancellation stops future renewals only; your access continues through the end of your current paid period (your paid-through date), which your dashboard and the Membership page both show. After that date, your account returns to the free plan. Cancellation itself does not delete your account or your saved writing, subject to our Privacy Policy.

Refunds

To request a refund, contact us through the contact form. Refund requests are reviewed individually. If you believe you were charged in error, tell us through the same form and we will review the charge with you. Cancellation does not automatically refund previous charges. Nothing in this policy limits your rights under applicable law.

Billing Management

Payments are processed securely through Base44 Payments, and we never collect or store your card details. Existing subscriptions and paid-through access are unaffected: renewals continue and access runs to the date already paid for. You can cancel a subscription from the Membership page at any time, and your dashboard shows the date your plan next renews or the date a canceled plan’s access ends. Receipts and card details are held by Base44 Payments; if you need a record of a payment or a change to your payment method, contact us and we will help you find it.

Expiration and Saved Writing

When your paid subscription ends, access to premium features ends. Cancellation itself does not delete your saved writing, drafts, or revision history. Data retention and deletion are governed by our Privacy Policy. AI tools remain subject to your current plan’s access and usage limits.
